Nads Hair removal gel review

Monday 24 January 2011

Nads was started in a kitchen in Sydney where Sue Ismeil created the no heat, hair remover product for her daughter in her own kitchen.
I have been using this stuff for years, when I first had Sky digital back in the late 90’s I would flick through the TV shopping channel. Nads was showcasing and I was amazed how the product removed a lot of hair with no heat, and the strip is reusable which means you use even less product and better value for money. Back then other then QVC it was quite difficult to order the product, but luckily I found a store online to ship to me it was £25 for a pot. Fast forward a few years later and Nads are stocked in Boots, YES!!! Thank you! Product is roughly now £9.99 onwards for 170g/6oz.

Ingredients:
Glucose (CAS # 50-99-7),Fructose (CAS # 57-48-7),Aqua(water),Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Fruit extract, Mel(Honey),Acetum (Vinegar),Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Juice , Citric acid (CAS # 77-92-9), CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 42090 (Blue 1)

Description:
The natural gel melts with body heat and washes off in water. Simple and effective, Nad’s Natural Hair Removal Gel is perfect for legs, bikini line, underarms and arms. It is best used at body or room temperature and comes with cloth strips that are washable and re-usable.

Below are some photos of the product in action
Pros
Effective, product removes hair from the root
Hair growth is finer, lasting 6-8 weeks
all natural ingredients
Smooth, silky skin
Water soluble all you need to do is rinse with warm water
Strips are reusable

Cons
✗ it’s very sticky
✗ in water months the product starts to set so you need to pop into the microwave to cool down
✗ so strong it ripped some of my skin, yup was bleeding a little

Verdict
Like I said I have been using this product faithfully for years and it’s the only hair removal method I use, this product is even voted in The 21st Centaury beauty bible top hair removers tried and tested. Now that it’s widely available in boots I can easily access the products. A pot usually last me 3-4 months, product application is super easy just apply a thin layer in direction of growth then pull the strip towards you. I do have a problem with some parts of the skin, the product didn’t pick up the hairs but overall it’s a fast and effective way of removing hair, the hair growth is slower and finer I hate shaving. This is a HG product for me!

❤❤❤❤❤ Product love rating 5/5

Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation Review

Lily Lolo was launched in 2005, by Vikki Khan their products are free from harsh chemicals, dyes and fillers and even has antibacterial properties to help improve the skin. “Our foundations, powders and bronzers give women the flawless, airbrushed complexion they so badly crave”. They are cruelty free and won awards for being green.

I first started testing mineral foundations back in 2007, when Michelle Phan introduced Everyday minerals to her Xanga readers. Sadly Everyday Minerals had a wide range of colours and had even dewy glow finishes, but their stuff made me break out. I tried many other brands such as Signature minerals, etc but it also made me break out. Then I brought MAC mineralize Satin finish foundation, I loved this stuff and went and to buy the mineralize loose powder. Both products I was super happy with not only it did not break me out it looked fantastic on camera.

MAC mineralize satin finish NC35
(Do you like my hair extensions? I can review it, it’s 100% natural human hair)

MAC mineralize loose powder Medium Dark

Lately I my skin was going through acne prone stage, and the only foundation suitable for acne prone skin is mineral foundation. Lily Lolo was a brand I was meaning to buy, so when I saw the 20% discount I went and brought samples.

in the buff (image via lily lolo website)

A sample size 0.75g pot at the time of purchase was £1.25; I kid you not I was baffled what undertone I was. In MAC foundations I’m a neutral cool undertone, and the perfect shade in Everyday minerals was completely different to Lily Lolo. I finally found two shades that suited my skin “in the buff” and “cookie”. Both are “balanced undertone” shades.

Pros
  • does not break out on skin even in prolong periods (MAJOR WIN for me)
  •   coverage is buildable
  •  flawless finish
  •  no white cast in photos
  •   samples are inexpensive
Cons
  • Took  a while to find perfect shade even with consultation with the reps
  • Need concealer  to cover spots and scars
  • Only one finish
Application
I use my everyday mineral flat top kabuki or the normal kabuki to apply this to my face with 2-3 coats giving myself a medium coverage. It is buildable and literally disappears on to your face making it smooth I then apply flawless silk on top as a finishing powder.
Lily lolo mineral foundation “in the buff”

Verdict
I have tested the product for over a month and must hype it up! A little goes a long way I still haven’t used all my sample pot up yet, I urge you to buy the samples it’s super inexpensive and you can trial the product yourself. I highly recommend the product and will be purchasing the full size pot. As you can see in my photo up close the foundation really smoothed my face out and covered acne and spots well and did not make my face itchy unlike other mineral foundations.

Alva Naturkosmetik Milk and Honey Shower Gel and Milk and Honey Body lotion review

Saturday 8 January 2011

Company info: Alva Naturkosmetik is a German company, providing natural and organic products, the products I am reviewing are Eco-cert.  http://www.alvanaturalskincare.co.uk
I was really excited to try these products out, Milk and honey is one of my favourite scents that I love for my bath and shower products.
Both products come in squeeze tube and are both 150ml in size.  The body lotion came boxed; the ‘alva’ logo is embossed on the tube in silver. The corporate brand colours are orange and canary yellow.
Alva Naturkosmetik Milk and Honey Shower Gel are priced at £6.50. Alva Naturkosmetik Milk and Honey is priced at £8.00
I start with the shower gel
Product claims: - Pampers the body and soul providing warmth and harmony. This wonderful creamy shower and bath sensation protects the skin’s moisture level with organic aloe vera and wheat protein.
Active Ingredients:
aqua, cocamidopropyl betaine, citrus aurantium dulcis fruit water, coco glucoside, sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate, lauryl glucoside, glyceryl oleate, triticum vulgare extract, symphytum officinale extract, aloe barbadensis, glycerin, parfum, sodium phy
Verdict: - The product lathered really well on a shower puff, it is very economical I have been using the product for over a month and there’s still half the tube left. The scent is what I expected; the honey smells divine and good enough to eat. I’m surprised this was in a gel like form, usually milk and honey products are creamy looking.  My skin felt very clean, although not nourishing but it preps my skin for the body lotion.
Now onto the body lotion
Product claims: - Milk/honey body lotion pampers the body and soul

Ingredients:

aqua, helianthus annuus seed oil, polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate, simmondsia chinensis oil, butyrospermum parkii butter, carapa guaianensis, theobroma grandiflorum, symphytum officinale extract, tocopheryl acetate, algin, galactoarabinan, bisabol
Verdict: - The lotion is thin in consistency; and same with the shower gel the honey smells yummylicious.  I was pleasantly surprised that the lotion left my usually dry skin soft and supple this lasted for 24hrs. Maybe it’s because of the shea butter content. Once applied the lotion was instantly absorbed to my skin and left no greasiness. I have used 1/3 of the lotion even when I used it sparingly.
Will I repurchase? Yes to both products, both are great value for money and economical. I look forward to trying the rest of the range

MAC Dazzleglass - Steppin’ out Swatch

Tuesday 4 January 2011

This is an old LOTD
MAC Dazzleglass - Steppin’ out

I have a thing about keeping products in mint condition so even though this has been in my make up stash for a very long time it still looks brand new.

The colour looks like a hot pink with purple and pink glitter specks, it really does dazzle lips at all angles, this looks very natural on my lips.

On MAC website they describe this colour as an clean yellow pink with red pearl. £16.00
