Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation Review

Tuesday 18 January 2011

Lily Lolo was launched in 2005, by Vikki Khan their products are free from harsh chemicals, dyes and fillers and even has antibacterial properties to help improve the skin. “Our foundations, powders and bronzers give women the flawless, airbrushed complexion they so badly crave”. They are cruelty free and won awards for being green.

I first started testing mineral foundations back in 2007, when Michelle Phan introduced Everyday minerals to her Xanga readers. Sadly Everyday Minerals had a wide range of colours and had even dewy glow finishes, but their stuff made me break out. I tried many other brands such as Signature minerals, etc but it also made me break out. Then I brought MAC mineralize Satin finish foundation, I loved this stuff and went and to buy the mineralize loose powder. Both products I was super happy with not only it did not break me out it looked fantastic on camera.

Lately I my skin was going through acne prone stage, and the only foundation suitable for acne prone skin is mineral foundation. Lily Lolo was a brand I was meaning to buy, so when I saw the 20% discount I went and brought samples.

A sample size 0.75g pot at the time of purchase was £1.25; I kid you not I was baffled what undertone I was. In MAC foundations I’m a neutral cool undertone, and the perfect shade in Everyday minerals was completely different to Lily Lolo. I finally found two shades that suited my skin “in the buff” and “cookie”. Both are “balanced undertone” shades.

Pros
  • does not break out on skin even in prolong periods (MAJOR WIN for me)
  •   coverage is buildable
  •  flawless finish
  •  no white cast in photos
  •   samples are inexpensive
Cons
  • Took  a while to find perfect shade even with consultation with the reps
  • Need concealer  to cover spots and scars
  • Only one finish
Application
I use my everyday mineral flat top kabuki or the normal kabuki to apply this to my face with 2-3 coats giving myself a medium coverage. It is buildable and literally disappears on to your face making it smooth I then apply flawless silk on top as a finishing powder.

Verdict
I have tested the product for over a month and must hype it up! A little goes a long way I still haven’t used all my sample pot up yet, I urge you to buy the samples it’s super inexpensive and you can trial the product yourself. I highly recommend the product and will be purchasing the full size pot. As you can see in my photo up close the foundation really smoothed my face out and covered acne and spots well and did not make my face itchy unlike other mineral foundations.
